A yacht ran aground on Magalluf beach on Sunday, attracting hundreds of tourists and sunbathers after becoming stranded just metres from the shoreline in one of the resort’s busiest areas.
Crowds gathered throughout the afternoon to watch the unfolding scene as another vessel repeatedly attempted to tow the yacht back into deeper water. The initial rescue efforts were unsuccessful, with many beachgoers stopping to film and photograph the incident.

Police and lifeguards were sent to the beach to monitor the situation and ensure public safety while the yacht remained grounded. Witnesses said the vessel had been stranded since around midday, drawing curious onlookers from across the beach.
“Everyone was taking photos and watching them try to get it out,” one eyewitness said, describing the failed attempts to refloat the yacht as dozens of people looked on. The cause of the grounding has not yet been confirmed, and there have been no reports of injuries or significant damage.
According to initial reports, the 12-metre yacht lost steering as it entered the designated bathing area before running aground on the shoreline. Lifeguards cleared swimmers from the water after the vessel came to rest close to the beach, while a private boat managed to refloat it around two hours later before towing it to Puerto Portals.
